EBOOK SUBMISSIONS:

We welcome submissions from new, unpublished authors as well as from those previously published. We also welcome authors who do not have an agent. Please study our guidelines, especially those detailing how to format your manuscript. Much of our decision to publish a book is determined by the adherence to our guidelines, as well as the quality of the story itself. We will accept previously published works only if the author holds exclusive rights. We will not accept short stories (stories shorter than 20,000 words), or a collection of short stories presented as a single submission. We publish one short story collection each year and will announce a call for submissions’ when we are ready to publish a new edition. We do not accept simultaneous submissions! Please state in the email to which you attach your submission that your manuscript has been sent EXCLUSIVELY to Diabolic Publications, and will not be sent to any other publisher for a period of at least sixty days (our current response time). Currently our response time is sixty days, except for overly long novels, we try to respond within 90 days. We will reply promptly to emails from authors who wish clarification of any portion of our guidelines.

Manuscript length: The minimum length is 20,000 words. We prefer 80,000 words or more for full length novels, but we are flexible in this regard.

Serialized Novels. If an author has completed a series of related works, and we accept the first book, however all future books in the series ha sto go through the regular submission and acceptance route .

Ebook Formats: We are currently publishing eBooks in Adobe PDF, MS-Reader, Mobipocket, iSilo, Kindle, SONY and ePub format. Diabolic Publications will continue to evolve as new technologies emerge in the area of the electronic book.

Book covers: Diabolic Publications will provide artistic cover art. The image created for a particular book will appear in the eBook file of the work. We do not accept cover art provided by the author unless agreed upon before acceptance of the book for publication and must be approved by the Publisher in writing.

CONTRACT TERMS:

1. An official contract is sent to the author, via email for review upon our acceptance of the work. 2. Royalties are paid as follows: A) 30 % of the download price, less credit card processing fees, for ebooks sold from our web site . B) 25 % of the sale price received from a reseller. 3. Rights and subsidiary rights A) We acquire all forms of publication rights for three years, with an automatic one-year renewal unless either party provides a written request after the three year term, but prior to each one year renewal date. B) We hold the right to sell any subsidiary rights at anytime during the length of the contract with a 50%/50% split between the author and publisher from the proceeds. 4. Royalty payments that total more than $25.00 will be paid every three (3) months, in US dollars. Payment will be made approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the end of each (3) three month period. The time is dependent on the amount of time the retailers take to distribute payment to us. Any payments not received from retailers by the cutoff date will be added to the following royalty pay schedule. 5. Payment is made via deposit of royalty payment in an author-supplied PayPal Account, check or money order. It is the responsibility of the author to keep email, paypal and mailing addresses up to date with the publisher.

How to format and send submissions:

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically, in .rtf format created in MS WORD (Word 98 or above), and be sent as an attachment to an email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Do not send your manuscript contained within the body of an email. We do not accept manuscripts in HTML, Mac, WordPerfect, or MS Works files. The submission must be a single .rtf file separated into two parts by a Next Page break. For details, see our Formatting Guidelines.

The email must contain “Submission of [title of book] by [your real name]” in the subject line. Include a short, one-paragraph note in the body of the email, to introduce yourself, if you are submitting to us for the first time.

FORMATTING GUIDELINES:

Submissions must contain the following items in the order given. Insert the numbering and the headings given in bold type. Follow those with the required information. Single space paragraphs and provide the following information.

1. Title of book 2. Your contact Information , each item on a separate line A) Author's real name B) Author's pseudonym, if you wish the work to appear under a pen name C) Author's mailing address, including your country D) Author's telephone number E) Author's email address

Synopsis:

A)Short Synopsis: a concise description of the book, no more than 200 words. B)Long Synopsis: a more in-depth description of the book. No more that 400 to 500 words. 3. Author Biography: a biography about you, the author, using your pen name if you use one. The biography should be two or three paragraphs totaling approximately 250 words. Since the public will see this biography, write it with that in mind. Write it in the third person. 4. Photograph: a digital photograph. 5. Book Series: state whether or not your submission forms part of a series. If it does, state whether or not the other books in the series are finished and ready for submission. State the name of the series and the number of books in the series. 6. Genre: state what genre and subgenre your book falls into. 7. Your publishing history: state if your submission has been previously published. If it has, you will need to provide proof that you own or that all rights have reverted back exclusively to you. 8. Editing: If your manuscript has been edited by a professional editor, if so you must provide the name and contact information of the editor and a copy of any contract you have with that editor. Diabolic Publications retains the right to edit any submission accepted for publication for basic grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure.

Formatting Your Manuscript :

We require that your manuscript be formatted as follows:

A. Font: Times New Roman or Courier, 12 point. B. Paragraph, Indents and Spacing: 1) Alignment = left 2) Indentation: Left = .5 3) Line Spacing = single. 1. Do not put blank lines between the paragraphs of text. 2. Do not use headers or footers, and do not number the pages. 3. Use one-inch margins. 4. Thoughts expressed by a character, as opposed to spoken words, must be italicized rather than placed within quotation marks. Foreign words or phrases, and words that the author wishes to emphasize, must also be italicized. Do not underline. C. First Page of the Manuscript:

1. In the upper right hand corner, place the following, each on its own line: Your real name Pen name you wish used Word count Your mailing address Your telephone number Your email address

2. Start each chapter on a new page. Do not leave blank space above the chapter heading.

Hard copy is only accepted if it has been requested by the publisher!

PAPER COPY FULL MANUSCRIPT REQUEST SUBMISSIONS:

We will not accept novels that are shorter than 40,000 words. We prefer 90,000 words up to 150,000. We will not accept simultaneous submissions. Response time: We reply within 12-16 weeks via email only of the date received.
